This year with the economy as bad as it is and jobs being lost the way they are, I am trying to spend as little as I possibly can. However, that is not the easiest thing to do in my household. My household now consists of myself, John 48 who is an incredibly large eater, my 9 year old daughter, my 6 year old son, and my 2 month old baby girl. So, with buying diapers and formula it will be hard not to spend a lot. But I am pretty good at stretching a dollar, so watch me track my success and I will share my tips along the way.

I am finally able to be back online after my computer died a year ago.
I have an almost new laptop and high-speed internet (which I have never had before).

New Boyfriend

Well the most exciting news in my life right now is that I have a new boyfriend. We have been seeing each other for almost two months now and everything is going great. The hardest thing is that he lives over an hour away so we don't get to see each other as much as we would like. He was last up here on Monday night and will be coming back tonight (Friday) and staying until Monday morning. My kids absolutely adore him and he really likes them too. We all have so much fun together on the weekends. Everything is going so well, it kind of makes me worry about when the other shoe will drop. So wish us well.

A Boring Weekend

Well we had an uneventful weekend here. It was chilly and we had a few flurries but we haven't had any measurable snow in quite some time. This is so strange for an Iowa winter. The kids and I stayed home all weekend and just spent time together. We played some games, put together some puzzles, and cleaned the house. It was a nice peace weekend, I hope we can have some more of these.

Christmas Decor came down

Well I spent several hours today taking down all the Christmas decorations. I am glad to have it all down and put away. The kids were sad to take it all down but I was so glad to have it done. For the last week I have just been feeling like my house has overun with decorations. Now I have my house back. And now maybe I can sit back and relax this evening.

Ugly Christmas

It is cold enough for snow, but there is still no snow. So we will not be having a white Christmas. It is just so drab and ugly outside. We had Christmas with my sister and her family and my mother and grandmother yesterday. The kids had a lot of fun with their cousins and it was pretty nice overall. Now this evening we will celebrate our Christmas at home.

Ready for Christmas

I am so ready for Christmas, I have the baking done, all the presents wrapped. Now I just need Christmas to come. I can't wait for the kids to see their new bikes, they are going to be so excited. Saturday we will go to my sisters house which is about 3 hours away and celebrate with her family and my mother and grandmother. Then on Sunday we will celebrate at home. Then on Monday I will take the kids to the other side of their family so they can celebrate with them. I am so ready, bring on Christmas!

Church Christmas Party

Today we went to the Christmas Party at church. The kids played games and then we had pizza and cookies. Then we all sang carols and the kids exchanged presents. It was a really nice day. Everyone had fun. We do this every year.

Weather

We have been having some very crazy weather lately. It has been very warm for being the end of November. Today we hit a record high at 63. Normally we would be in the 30's. Also the last three days we have been having thunderstorms. That is very abnormal for this time of year. Sometimes the weather is totally unpredictable.

Family Thanksgiving

The kids and I went to my Grandmother's for Thanksgiving. My mother, my sister, her two children and her husband were also there. So the nine of us had a nice Thanksgiving dinner with the traditional turkey, ham, mashed potatoes and gravy, stuffing, corn, green beans, and pumpkin pie. And the weather was in the 50's. Which is so great for November in Iowa. After lunch we were able to take the children to the park for about an hour. Then we went back and they watched Cars. It is so great that the four children get along so great. We stayed at Gram's until Sunday morning. It is really nice to spend time with her.

Christmas Shopping

I was able to do some more Christmas shopping today. I am about 2/3 done with my shopping. It is a good feeling to be farther along. Now I am doing laundry and doing a little cleaning. Since we will be gone all weekend I want to have the house in order for when we come back.

The Replacements

The movie The Replacements is on right now. I really like that movie. I have no idea how many times I have watched it but its a lot. A bunch of ex-football players get their second shot at the majors when their is a strike. And they are able to get their team to come together and really be good and even get to the playoffs. Plus this movie features Keanu Reeves, who is totally hot and a good actor. He gets together with the lead cheerleader.

Work

I can't wait for next week. It will only be a three day work week. And then four straight days off. I have been pretty stressed out at work lately so this couldn't have come at a better time.

Started Christmas Shopping Today

Today on my lunch break I went to the store and started Christmas shopping. I got new bikes for both kids. And I also bought a shirt, Thomas the Train DVD, and extra train set pieces for my son. I was also looking for a Thomas plug n play game, but they didn't have any. As soon as I can find that I will be done shopping for my son. So at least I got a start. I am going to purchase some gifts each week and be done the week before Christmas. Last year I used my credit card to purchase all my gifts. This year my goal is to pay cash for at least half of the gifts so I am not paying for them for months afterwards. Hopefully I will be able to stick to that.

It's snowing!

It is 30 degrees outside and it has been snowing since early this morning. Yuck, they say we could get up to five inches.

I am so sick of my neighbors!

Ughh, I am so sick of my neighbors! They moved in a few months ago and I hadn't had any problems with them until about three weeks ago. Our driveways are right next to each other, I have a double wide driveway and they have a single wide driveway. One day I came home from work and there was a total of four cars there and I had to drive on my yard to get into my driveway because they had the end of it blocked. I didn't say anything to them that time since it was the first time. Then a few days later I came home to the same thing. So I went and knocked on their door and nicely asked that they move the vehicles and do not park in my driveway anymore. But it keeps happening. Last night I took out the garbage and saw that I was completely blocked in! I didn't do anything about it then I came home today for my lunch hour and could barely get into my driveway again. But I didn't want to deal with it on my lunch hour. Now, I just came home from work and I was not able to get into my driveway again. So, I went and knocked on the door and said they needed to move the cars and to please not park in my driveway anymore. She didn't say anything so I went back out and sat in my car on the street and waited ten minutes. Nobody came out so I went back to the door again and said I am waiting for you to move the cars so I can get into my driveway and she said "They will be leaving in about 20 minutes." By this time I was very pissed, and I said I am not waiting any longer either get them moved or I am calling the police. She said "fine, if you are going to be a b**ch about it." Can you believe that. Ughh, I just want to scream!
