Garden Update

How is everyone's gardening efforts going?

I have moved all of my tomato, peas, broccoli, jalapeno, and habanero plants outside. I have all four of my hanging flower baskets full and hanging on the patio. Inside I still have a few flowers that are not mature enough to move outside and my bhut jolokia and red carribbean peppers have been transplanted to bigger pots but need to stay inside for quite a while yet. These particular peppers are not to be planted outdoors until the soil temperature reaches 60'.

I will try to take some pictures of my plants outside soon.

Do you buy CSA?

I have been debating whether to buy a CSA share this season?

I would really like to support a local farmer and I am really trying to incorporate more fresh fruit and vegetables into my families diet. To buy a share at our local CSA is $390 and that gets you a box of freshly grown, in season produce for 18 weeks. I am worried about getting things that my kids won't eat and having it go to waste, and not getting enough of things we will eat and having to buy more at the farmer's market or grocery store.

The deadline to buy a share is Friday. Ugh, I need to hear more from people that have done this before.

New Bike

I bought my oldest daughter a new bike today. Her old bike was just too small for her so it will eventually be used by her younger sister.

Soccer

Last regular season soccer game this morning. Tournament play starts Thursday!

Checkup & Shots

My youngest daughter had her 18 month checkup and shots today. The doctor said everything is looking very good. And she was a really tough girl and barely wimpered when she got her shots.

Broken Toe

This morning I broke one of my toes. What horrible timing, I have a very busy week: two doctor's apptointments for the kids, orientation at next year's new intermediate school, plus five days of work and all my normal other duties. Ugh, walking is very painful, but there's nothing I can do to change it now.

A Fun Weekend

We were finally able to get out and go four wheeling this weekend. It was a little chilly and windy but no one wanted to wait any longer so we went. John got all three four wheelers out of his dad's barn and got them started and the two older kids and I went out on the trails. Then when we got back the kids really wanted to go through the fields which were pretty muddy so I reluctantly said ok. They got muddy, but not as bad as I expected, but they had so much fun!

A Productive Saturday

It was a very productive day and I am really happy with what I accomplished today.

This morning, my oldest daughter had a soccer game, which we all attended. After that I went to a second hand furniture store downtown and found a decent dresser for my youngest. So I brought that home, pulled everything out of her bedroom, cleaned it completely from top to bottom, put stuff back in, went through all of her clothes and packed up three boxes to get rid of. I took the boxes and an old lazy boy chair that we don't use anymore out to the garage and plan to donate them in the next few days. Then I proceeded to clean up the yard and mow it for the first time this year. Then the kids really wanted to go for a walk, so we did that. I am pretty surprised I was able to get all that done today, but I am so happy I did.

Now I hope tomorrow is productive and a little relaxing too.
